The Challenge

As a leading health organization, ASHM's digital presence was outdated. The mobile experience was poor, the education library was clunky, and duplication was rampant—content that fit on one page was scattered across fifteen.

My constraint? Preserve the Information Architecture to match the existing user mental model while completely overhauling the experience.

Cluttered Navigation

Main navigation structure was deep and repetitive, burying key content.

Rapid Content Growth

Supporting dynamic hubs for new divisions and disease-specific resources.

Fragmented User Profile

Full account management and profile settings lived in a separate, disconnected system.

The Solution

1. The "Global Compass"

To solve the navigation clutter, I designed a Mega Menu that acts as a global compass. It structures the 15+ scattered sections into clear buckets. Crucially, I added dynamic cards inside the menu itself.

"In the Conference tab, it shows the latest promoted event. In the Global Division, it highlights the Fiji mothers' treatment project."

2. First Principles Design System

I overhauled the design system by stripping it back. I reduced the color palette to essentials and only added components when immediately necessary. This "just-in-time" approach prevented the system from becoming bloated.

3. Integrated User Portal

We merged the fragmented user portal (accounts, payments, membership) into the main website login with a fresh design based on user feedback and input. This seamless integration was a massive technical win for user retention.
